In order to avoid disproportionate administrative and economic burdens, while preserving the integrity and environmental objectives of the CBAM, the Commission should be empowered to grant, on a duly reasoned request from the Member State concerned, a temporary and product-specific temporary derogation of the obligations laid down in that Regulation for operators established in outermost regions located more than 3 000 nautical miles from the European continent, having limited access to Union supply chains and which remain heavily dependent on imports from third countries for the supply of certain products covered by that Regulation.
