Parliament is considering a proposal to amend an existing European Union regulation on certain provisions for fishing in the area covered by the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) Agreement.

Parliament adopted its position on this law at first reading, which sets out where MEPs stand before agreement with the Council.

Parliament also calls on the Commission to refer the matter to it again if the Commission replaces or substantially amends its proposal, and instructs its President to forward Parliament's position to the Council, the Commission and the national parliaments.
