Beyond using the untapped potential of the EU domestic workforce, opening legal pathways for migration and preventing exploitative working conditions by ensuring equal treatment between local workers and third country nationals can also contribute to addressing skills and labour shortages, including those linked to the green and digital transitions such as in STEM sectors as well as in healthcare and long-term care, education, transport and construction.
