This is a draft report by the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs on the appointment of the Executive Director of the European Banking Authority. It proposes a European Parliament decision on whether to approve the appointment of Thomas Gstaedtner for a term of five years. The Board of Supervisors proposed Thomas Gstaedtner on 21 July 2026 after an open selection procedure, under Article 51(2) and (3) of Regulation (EU) No 1093/2010. The committee held a hearing with him on 2 September 2026. The draft decision offers two options: to approve the appointment, or to decline to approve it and ask for the proposal to be withdrawn and a new one submitted.
