The Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs sets out its opinion on the draft general budget of the European Union for the financial year 2027. It calls on the Committee on Budgets to incorporate its points into the resolution. It asks the 2027 budget to strengthen macroeconomic stability, complete the Single Market through the Savings and Investments Union, and treat Energy Union investments as part of that effort. It wants competitiveness boosted through simplification and fewer administrative burdens, with stable prices and sustainable public finances as prerequisites. It asks the budget to safeguard financial stability and social cohesion, follow the European Semester's recommendations, and support flexible use of cohesion policy instruments. It calls for economic and monetary sovereignty, faster structural reforms and more productive investment in defence and critical infrastructure, with national security interests considered for third-country participation.
