This amendment strengthens the role of Union space-based data in supporting disaster resilience goals under the Union Civil Protection Mechanism. It introduces a secure and interoperable framework for accessing and sharing Earth Observation data, through the Agency as a single trusted interface (“Front Desk”), and ensures the reliability of data through calibration and validation infrastructure. It also reflects the increasing importance of dual-use considerations and secure data governance in disaster risk management.
