23. Calls on the Member States to strengthen and, where appropriate, establish effective frameworks to protect persons who cooperate with law enforcement and judicial authorities in cases of drug trafficking and organised crime, including through physical protection, confidentiality measures and access to legal assistance; calls for appropriate protection mechanisms to be considered for individuals coerced or exploited into criminal activity, including minors, where their circumstances warrant a different approach from that applied to cooperating witnesses; calls for enhanced cooperation and the exchange of best practices between Member States on witness protection schemes, while ensuring full respect for fundamental rights and judicial safeguards;
24. Instructs its President to forward this resolution to the Council, the Commission, the Member States, Europol, Eurojust, EUDA, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, and the United Nations.
