Pays tribute to the Guardia Civil officers who lost their lives off the coast of Huelva and in Barbate, and expresses its sincere condolences to their families and colleagues; stresses that police and Guardia Civil officers on the front line against drug trafficking must have the necessary vessels, equipment, training, staff and legal protection to carry out their missions safely; calls on the Member States to reflect the high-risk nature of this work in the professional status and social protection of these officers; calls on the Commission to swiftly implement the commitment in the EU action plan against drug trafficking to tackle the misuse of go-fast boats, including through common rules on their manufacture, sale, registration and use, and on the illegal supply of fuel to such boats at sea; |
