Calls for the establishment of a European Day in Remembrance of the Victims of Accidents at Work and for the Protection and Dignity of Workers, to be marked each year on 8 August, in memory of the tragedy at the Bois du Cazier mine in Marcinelle, which, owing to its intrinsically European nature – in that it involved workers from several countries that are now Member States of the EU – represents a common symbol of the struggles for decent work and the need for a common approach to the protection of health and safety at work; | 1.
