Changes from resolution motion to adopted text

20. Calls on the UN and all participating countries, and particularly the host countries of the Social Summit, to fully uphold labour and social rights, including by ratifying the ILO core conventions and committing to the values of the Social Declaration; highlights the importance of the EPSR, as well as the La Hulpe Declaration, in order to build a strong social Europe; stresses the need for a renewed commitment to achieving both the EU’s social targets and the SDGs by 2030, in Europe and worldwide;

21. Notes with concern the slow progress on achieving the SDGs across the EU, with the pace of advancement from 2020 to 2023 being less than half of that in the 2016-2019 period; expresses its concern that the SDGs were not mentioned explicitly in the Political Guidelines of the current President of the European Commission; stresses the importance of strengthening the EU’s commitment towards social progress and the achievement of the SDGs; calls on the Commission and the Member States to honour their commitment to the EU’s common goals and especially Article 3 TEU; calls, in this regard, for the EU to engage constructively in the adoption of the UN Treaty on Business and Human Rights in order to regulate the activities of transnational corporations and other business enterprises, to uphold fair wage practices beyond the EU and to allow victims of unfair wage practices to seek redress;

22. Calls for the EU to support the global transition from informal to formal employment, in line with ILO Recommendation 204, by promoting fair labour standards, decent work, and access to social protection; encourages the integration of this goal into EU development, trade and external action policies;

23. Instructs its President to forward this resolution to the Council and the Commission.
