Condemns the participation of Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua in the EU-CELAC meeting in 2023; denounces, in particular, the physical presence of Delcy Rodríguez in Brussels despite travel and entry restrictions in the Schengen area imposed on her; deplores that the President of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the then-President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the then-rotating President of the Council of the EU, Pedro Sánchez, greeted Rodríguez as if she were a legitimate leader; points out that such a reception calls into question the EU's proclaimed defence of human rights and the rule of law; recalls that this is the second time Rodríguez has flagrantly violated these restrictions with impunity, the first being her clandestine visit in 2020 to Barajas, Spain, where she met with the then-Minister of Transport of the Sánchez government and his deputy in the Socialist Party, José Luis Ábalos, who is now under investigation for corruption; questions the implementation of initiatives under the EU-CELAC Roadmap 2023-2025, as fundamentally flawed; recalls, in this regard, that Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez promoted CELAC to undermine the Organization of American States (OAS); underlines, in this regard, the need to exclude Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua from the 2025 summit for it to have any credibility; |
