Subject: Opinion in the form of a letter on the proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on information security in the institutions, bodies, offices and agencies of the Union (2022/0084(COD))

Dear Mr Chair,

Under the procedure referred to above, the Committee on Constitutional Affairs has been asked to submit an opinion to your committee. The Committee on Constitutional Affairs adopted its opinion to the report of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs on 30 January 2023.

However, the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs did not finalise its work on this proposal during the previous European Parliament legislature. On 24 October 2024, Parliament decided, in accordance with Rule 250 of its Rules of Procedure, to resume business on this proposal. Therefore, the Committee on Constitutional Affairs decided at its coordinators meeting of 29 January 2025, to submit again its opinion of 30 January 2023 to the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs in the form of a letter.

The Committee on Constitutional Affairs considered the matter at its meeting of 19 March 2025 and adopted the opinion at that meeting.
