RemovedThe European Union is a party to the International Agreement on Olive Oil and Table Olives, 2015 and a Member of the International Olive Council. The Agreement provisionally entered into force on 1 January 2017 and will remain into force until 31 December 2026.
RemovedDuring the 119th meeting of the Council of Members of the International Olive Council (IOC) on 25 June 2024, the IOC adopted by consensus an amendment of Article 36 of the Agreement in order to allow the extension of the Agreement for periods of five years.
RemovedThe file was referred to the European Parliament, on 6 January 2026. In accordance with Article 218(6) TFEU, the consent of the European Parliament is needed in order for the Council to adopt a decision concluding the Agreement and for the latter to come into force in due time.
RemovedIn the light of the above, the Rapporteur recommends that the Parliament give its consent to the conclusion of the Agreement, without prejudice to its democratic right of continuous scrutiny.
